Traffic Advisory: Christopher’s Crossing Now Open

The City of Frederick is excited to announce the opening of a new segment of Christopher’s Crossing the afternoon of Friday, June 26, 2020. The City began construction of this critical missing link of Christopher’s Crossing between Clover Ridge and Walter Martz Road in the Fall of 2018. This segment connects the existing endpoint of Christopher’s Crossing in Clover Ridge to the intersection of Walter Martz Road and Poole Jones Road.

The Christopher’s Crossing project, which was completed by contractor C. William Hetzer Inc., improves transportation safety and citizen access between residential neighborhoods to US Route 15, to downtown Frederick, and supports future development of the City-owned Sanner Farm, which will include multiple public facilities.  This project is one part of a joint City/County master transportation plan for Christopher’s Crossing to ultimately extend from US 15 north of the City to US 40 west of the City.

Now that this project is complete, parking will not be permitted along Christopher’s Crossing. An update on the expected signal at Oppossumtown Pike and Christopher’s Crossing (which is being installed by the affiliated developer) will be provided at a later date. Drivers are advised to use caution on the new roadway and drive at safe speeds.
